Would it be possible to have a tool that lets you pick a starting point and a final destination but not have it calculate a route?

I thought of this when I kept getting errors for trying to plan a route that involved several hops, and in many cases, the path chosen was going in a different direction than I wanted it to follow.

What I am looking for is to plan jumps and jump bridges manually, so I want to specify a range and have it show me all systems that are within that certain range of my current position.  For example:  I know where I want to start, and I know where I want to end up, but I want to pick my midpoints one at a time, and not have the database choose them for me.

So, I specify a range of 5ly and it shows me all eligible points.  I choose one from the list and then repeat the process until I reach my destination.

In addition to this, if I could specify that I want the next set of systems to be limited to a specific region, that would be helpful.  So I am currently in The Great Wildlands, and I want to find a good lowsec point in Metropolis, but I do not want the list cluttered up with results from other regions...

Does this make sense?

In a way you can use the current available system to do exactly this.

Use the jumpplanner with individual waypoints to get your overal route but use the jumprange tool to determine the systems you plug into the jumpplanner. If you use dreads, rorqual, JF etc. with skills set to zero then you only have a 5ly range in the jumprange tool. If you have jumpbridges installed then plug them in as individual waypoints if you want to know where to install then use the jumprange tool and set skills to 0.

Does that help?

Except the filtering on region, you can do this with the Jumprange tool.

Well... sort of.  But I was doing that already, the problem is that I only have some of the waypoints already identified, and I wanted to use the tool to identify more, but it doesn't make it really easy to see which routes are best.  Having the tool generate an 8 jump plan (with Rorqual skill at 0) shows me this long list and it takes me through 5 different regions - a massive detour from where I actually want to go.  I will keep playing with it, but it seemed like a good feature suggestion.

The biggest problem is that I keep getting errors in the jump plans that I create.  It has 2 different error pages - sorry, I didn't report them.  Next time I get one, I will drop it in here..

The other problem is that I want to be able to limit my path to specific regions.  For instance, if I have a jump off point in 0.0 and I want to connect to a specific Empire region, or if the neighboring regions are all enemy space... eliminating them from the list would be good.

I guess a final suggestion would be to allow us to jump to only those systems with our own, or no SOV available.  As a future jump bridge planner.

Except the filtering on region, you can do this with the Jumprange tool.
Hmm... I will have to play with this some more.  Thanks for the tip.  One question, how do you filter by region?

hi

would it be possible to set sec status of systems you want to start and end in with the destination set so you can try to find a high sec jump point to a lowsec end point target and it will bring up all the high sec start point for black ops and jump freighters jumping from high sec to low and 0.0?
